The jewel of modern architecture
The distinctive building by the world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel is – together with Frank Gehry’s Dancing House – the most outstanding example of modern world-class architecture in Prague. The six-storey complex with a characteristic corner directly above Metro B station offers both business and office space for a wide range of tenants. The building holds the prestigious BREEAM certificate for environmentally friendly buildings, with "excellent" rating, and has its own parking space.

Icon of Prague
The angel of Smíchov
On the site of today's complex had originally stayed a 19th century house with a characteristic statue of an angel. This house was demolished during the construction of the metro line B. Jean Nouvel took up this tradition and designed for the glass facade of the building a giant figure of angel, inspired by the film Wings of Desire. The figure was made from a special translucent foil.
Unique technology
Zlatý anděl represents the the most advanced technology of its time. Thanks to the layered facade, the house looks a bit different in different parts of the day. The glass is covered with a soft metal layer, so it has the maximum possible light transmission, low solar factor and reflection, which ensures good thermal comfort inside the building.
Cosmopolitan centre
At the time Zlatý Anděl was designed, Prague was again opening up for the world after the decades of communist governance. Architect Nouvel therefore decided show the cosmopolitan past of the city and placed on the facade some excerpts from the works of the leading writers related with Prague such as Kafka, Appolinaire, Rilke or Czech poet Jiří Orten.
